Topeka, High

The Chicago resident Mike Schpitz, originally from Topeka, Ks has been working on many projects recently. He completed the #TopekaTape project with a multitude of Topeka's own wordsmiths, putting together a massive compilation mix-tape. He performed at and organizing the #TopekaTape block party. Mike is quickly moving into his next project; this time a full feature album.

'Topeka, High' is going to be the album, an homage to the school that brought Mike up. Though years separated us, there were still rumblings of the freestyle sessions on the veranda of THS when i was a freshman in 2003/4. And it wasn't long after that I learned that some of the area's highest regarded names in the local music scene just left the school I would call home for my teenage years. I can see why THS and Topeka, would be influential in an artists mind; Too big to be little, and too little to big.

Mike has released two singles off of the newest album which will be dropping late Fall. "Still High" hit the Internet airwaves in July, and "City Council" dropped on August 20th, the songs boast hundreds of plays on SoundCloud and and charted on DJBooth.com's Indie Hip-Hop Music Charts. Both songs use strong guests to add to the already funky yet powerful singles.

"Still High" received a feature review from Richard Spadine of DJBooth.com. Check it out; Mike Schpitz - Still High
